Without looking at the book I'm going for fake. Notice how the backing plate magically stays in even though the crimps are no where near it.

        close combat clasp

why would a denazified medal be faked?

i paid very little for this item due to the fact its been damaged,it would have been a better display piece intact....

as its been said before on these forums, the fake market is so good now its killing the hobby.
when i started collecting the fakes looked like film props, now they are almost perfect.
        best regards

Matt, sorry to say almost all TR items de-nazed or otherwise are faked, the fakes are getting very "good".

My opinion of the CCC is that it's probably a fake - the reverse is a mess for a A.G.M.u.K, but a clear picture of the reverse will confirm/deny this.

Don, there are 2 of these same thread, you can delete the other one. I posted this reply in the other thread, but I will move it here:

            Hi Matthew,

This indeed is the wrong forum, should be in the "Heer Awards" forum.

As for the CCC, I think this might be a well made reproduction. Would need much clearer pics of the obverse and reverse, and side shots of the hinge and catch. Is the back plate magnetic?

It looks OK from this distance, but the odd finish on the obverse looks to be artificially worn. The backplate doesn't fit properly, and the overall details don't look as sharp as on originals. Something about the catch is also not quite right. Its close, but somehow I think its a well made repro but better, clearer pics or scans would let us know for sure.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
