    Silver PAB up for review

    Hello everyone

This is my first time in the Qualification Forum. Have a PAB to ask for your opionions, maker etc ? Hopefully these pics will help. Have had it about eight years or so. Would like to know value approx for possible e-stand sale too?
    All opinions welcome please.

    thanks
    Tim

          Hi Tim,

Looks like a heavily repaired, but original PAB by Steinhauer und Luck. Looks like someone put some rivets through the wreath at some point, but then ground them off .

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Good call Tom,i kept looking at it & thinking things had been re-grafted to it. i.e, the hinge & a new ? catch attached to what's left of the old catch. Didn't notice rivets,if i'm honest, but yes see what you mean. Stewy

looks like a daisy on the front, but a flat back????
We will need close up photos of the back to tell.

no no, this is the S&L design for sure here.

I agree the badge is original, but heavily repaired

I personally think that the marks on the backside of the wreath, are the remains of a alternative set up when this badge broke. The guy/soldier got the badge to a decent repair shop (you can't say that is an ugly repair) and removed that set up before adding a new one.
                    Kind regards,
                    Giel

                      Hi Giel,

that was my thought too on some type of alternate reverse setup done by the soldier. But, the marks on not just on the reverse, these are rivets that appear to go through the front of the badge as well.

                        Hello

Thankyou for all your help. Very interesting that the badge has been repaired, maybe more than one time...?The rivets are interesting as well. Still trying to improve back photos....

Can someone please post a pic of the backside of a Steinhauer und Luck ?

Very impressed with the knowledge displayed by this Forum on a difficult subject

                        best regards

Tom, I think I know it! There was an alternative set up, but not a pin system that was added. The badges received 4 holes to attach it with thread

After the the repair the holes were nicely filled up again with solder.

@ Tim, S&L had about 10 set up variants.
                          Kind regards,
                          Giel

                            Hi Giel,

AAAhhh, that indeed makes sense! That would also explain all the sanding/filing marks on the reverse, trying to get the solder smooth after it was poured into the holes.
