        Hi Jussi

Nicely worn original in my opinion.

Your badge has the faint maker mark on the front of the swas also. From your pics you can just see the "w".

This has been discussed before but it was most likely caused by the maker mark stamp mechanism being used on an empty die, resulting in the die forming a maker mark on the front side.

        best regards
        Graeme

          Hello Jussi

Another nice one for your collection, congratulations.

Graeme, how common is it to see the mm "w" peek through the front of the swas?

          Best Regards, fischer

            Hi Fischer

IMO not too common. On a couple of examples, that I have seen ,you can clearly see parts of all three letters "bsw" and from those letters and the position of those letters, you can tell it matches the punched mark on the reverse of these badges. On other examples the mark is less obvious, so maybe it is missed quite often. I have seen maybe 3 or 4 with this "feature".

So only speculating, maybe the damage to the die occurred some way into the life of the die?

The variant with the micro mark (bsw) in the centre of the rifle on the reverse is probably harder to find.

If I get time I will post a clearer example.

            cheers
            Graeme

              Hello Graeme

Thanks for the information...I had never seen this feature until you pointed it out in this example.

                Fischer

Here is the best example of this "feature" that I have seen.

                regards

                  Hello Graeme

WOW...that is pronounced. It's amazing how defined that is.

Great pic Graeme...Thanks for showing it.

Now I have something else to look for...

                  Best Regards, fischer
