I have no knowledge nor interest in Army badges but here is my thought as I think the problem is general for badges:
    We have 2 options:

I - All original badges and original variations are not known & recognized - we are limited by what we know/saw - for some that could limit the field of collection.

II - Fakes and fakers progress every day - if you modify 2/3 criterias on a known fake, does that makes it original?
Be sure that when a fake is coming on the market and it is discovered because x & y, next fake will be without x & y mistake.

In this particular case the answer is quiet easy
Do army flak badges marked"WH WIEN" exist? If yes, show an original example to compare, if not, maybe all the badges presented here are fakes with variation/evolution

Just returned from a short trip and wasn´t able to answer until today. Thanks to Philippe for letting everybody know the reason for me not answering to this thread.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, my sincere apologies to Gailen David. Indeed my post was uncalled for in tone. I have nothing against you and never dealt with you. Your prices are absolutely in line with other US dealers and are your business. My post reflected my personal opinion that I still reserve to keep even as a part of the moderator team. As I interpreted them, this is in line with the moderator´s guidelines. The tone wasn´t and that is what I apologize for.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------

These WH WIEN badges cannot be distinguished by flat back and slightly vaulted. They ALL are slightly vaulted, at least all badges shown in this thread are NOT absolutely flat backed.

I stand by my opinion that Gailen´s WH WIEN badge is in my opinion a fake as all other WH WIEN badges in this thread.

I assume that there are no real WH WIEN marked badges. It is an opinion I formed on inspection of WH WIEN badges and experience. As it is the case with all opinions, there is no way to prove it. All I can say is that I never held a WH WIEN badge in my hands that felt like an original item. Nor did I see one in a picture that seemed ok.

@ddoering: it is people like you who make "dealer gods", "MAX founder gods" and "moderator gods", not the persons themselves. Asking a high price for one´s wares shouldn´t make one a "dealer god" much like being able to respond to "fake or not?" requests shouldn´t make one a "moderator god".
You asked for a comment and got mine. Unsatisfied with it you looked for more comments, fair enough. I also have nothing against you, just something against some items you buy. I offered my help, I do not get off on telling people that something they have or intend to buy is IN MY OPINION fake. I feel it is my job here.

      Cheers, Frank

Frank, I respect your opinion. I think it was the tone that got to me. I am afraid that I then too lost sight of what the thread was about and am big enough of a man to apologize. I apprieciate your help.
        thank you.
