Rather not, you are going to buy a known fake. The "Wien" is a sure sign for a fake, also on Luft Flaks by WH.

        Hi Don,

I agree 100% with Frank stay away from this one.

If the pictures weren't so small you would also see that the breast feathering on these badges is a sure give away.

But as Frank pointed out, on original WH's you never will see "Wien" following the MM.

Same fake die, but they make a more believable version of the badge ddoering shows by now, regarding pin and catch.

                  Thanks...

...Philippe & Frank for the info. on these fakes.

I was looking at buying one of these with the double maker mark of "W.H." followed by "Wein" beneath, but I think I'll keep my money in my pocket now.

You guys just saved me a couple of bucks .

                  Once again thanks,

                  Al

If you are not 100% firm with your badges, do not buy at dealers that lack knowledge about their badges themselves. I cannot understand how people like that become "dealer gods" and "names of the hobby" when they even lack the very simple rules of detecting the simplest of all fakes. I have zero tolerance for that, especially when their prices are also out of touch with reality.

Thank you for your comments on the badge. I found it totally different from the fakes of the W.H. Flak Badges I have seen in the past. The back was not flat like the fake, the location of the catch was in a different place, the acorn on the bottom of the reef was different. The last thing I want to do is sell a fake badge. I have pulled the badge from my inventory and it will not be sold until I have it looked at further. I guarantee everything I sell forever so there was no risk to anyone should it have been found to be fake.

With that said, I found the last comment to be uncalled for. Especially from a moderator. The comment on my prices was unnecessary. I make every effort to only sell original material and worry about my reputation constantly. Any time one of you see a badge you have question with I would like to know and I will investigate it further.

                        Cordially Yours,
                        Gailen David

Frank, I think that you have stepped over the line in your criticism of Gailen David. He offers a life time guarantee on everything he sells. His prices should only concern thoes who choose to buy from him. He is one of the better dealers here in the US. Have I bought from him? You bet! Would I have bought the Flak Badge? No way! In reguards to ALL dealers, you need to know what you are buying. Labling him a "dealer god" was un-called for.

Without picking sides here, I must say that Gailen has always been honest and if he were to make an error, he would be the first to correct the problem. Sure, I wish some of his badges were priced a little lower, but they are what they are. We can find dealers all around the world, some are overpriced, some are priced to 'turnover' quickly, some are priced too good to be true.

As a collecter, when I see something I can't live without, I jump on it regardless of price.
