        Hello,

the IAB is an original zink type refered to as Frank&Reif/B.H.Mayer design.
        Regards
        Hans N

Hi there i'm with the others, Better hinge shots would determine whether it's F&R or B.H Mayer. Essentially the ohly difference between the two makers. Stewy

Now thats B-S Stewy. Take the IAB´s and compare the leaf between the sling and rifle butt... there are more tell tales than what i just said to keep them apart.

Besides we don´t even know if B.H.Mayer for shure made IAB´s, there is actually a F&R designed hollow IAB (with the differance i mentioned) marked as L/18 as well... just because some so called B.H.Mayer IAB´s (and PAB´s for that matter) has that L/18 makermark on the pin doesn´t mean they made them ... there most certainly are a 3rd company involved here.
                  Regards
                  Hans N

                            Looks like an original badge.

Stewy, this BH Mayer/F&R thing has been rumbling for a long time. If you do a search on these makers you will find some interesting and some hotly contested threads

In essence I agree with Hans and Michou on this....

....at the moment there is no real defining evidence for some of the discussion, only assumption.

For ease and general recognition of these badges, there is a definite hollow F&R design which matches solid maker marked F&R badges. Sometime in the past the badge posted in this thread was classed as BH Mayer and is very different from the hollow F&R already mentioned.

                            cheers
                            Graeme

My camera and photographic skills are shoddy at best. Here are the best pictures I could get of the catch and hinge.

I have to admit the hinge, pin and catch do resemble B.H.Mayer after seeing this article (3rd & 4th pictures) http://www.iiireichcollectibles.com/badge28.htm
