    Army Flak Badge Opinion, Please...

    Hello everyone:

This Aurich Army Flak Badge on the e-stand certainly looks original to me, but I'd like more opinions about it.

    Thanks, and here's the link:

Among other things, it certainly seems that it would take a long and very original amount of time for the gas beneath the finish to build up to a degree that it would cause bubbling (on the reverse). Furthermore, one of the bubbles has busted, exposing a very appropriately discolored base zinc metal beneath. Aside from other totally correct features, that seems to be most outstanding, as well.

        Ray,
If you want to post pictures you should be sure the owner of the badge is acceptable of your input. In this instance I do not belive you have the owner's acceptance. It is not your badge....

Chet, you just sent me a PM regarding this thread, which seems rude and confusing--

You ask me, "Why do you post pictures of others badges without there permisson?"

I actually posted pictures of nothing. I simply posted a link to a Flak Badge I am considering purchasing. I know the seller, John T. I seriously doubt he would mind if I post a link to his e-stand thread asking for other opinions about an expensive item I'm thinking of buying from him. I don't really think that John would care at all, and I can't imagine why you would either.

I hope you really meant for your PM to go to the other member above who did post a photo. If not, you owe me an apology.

I'm sorry if I seem upset, but I am. I feel insulted. I contribute enough to this forum to deserve more respect that. Again, maybe you didn't mean for the PM to go to me, and if so I apologize myself. However, if your PM to me is intentional, then it is also inappropriate.

          Sincerely,

          Chris

Chris, you are fully entitled and within your rights to ask questions and post links to items for sale on the e-stand. I wish more people would do that. Jacques

This is an outrageous joke. If ANYONE puts something on the e-stand it is fair game for a discussion thread - why the vitriol? I really do not understand why you all are so pissed off. I EXPECT anyone to be willing to have their stuff discussed. Are we secretive all of a sudden? And if a photo is posted on the internet I am sorry but it is fair game. As for Eric's photo, he has posted it MANY times quite proudly and why anyone would suddenly want it removed is beyond me, but if we are so sensitive the person can ask to have it removed. That said, anything I post I welcome people to copy and post.

To the badge in question, I have handled it and I believe it is good. There is a bit of tiny pitting to the obverse of the gun barrel and on the top right wing which is probably from a dirty die. That said, Frank posted an excellent thread on the Aurich Flak some time back with a questionable maker mark. Due to the heavy plating on this badge it was hard for me to see so I asked John for the badge when he gets back so I can scan it and check. I know other Aurich Flak badges are dark, but as you can see in my Flak book I post numerous shiny silver ones being worn by the Waffen-SS.

Yes, the badge looks suspect just from the pictures. However, I do not see the bulge that is a typical of the fake ones. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, buy Marc's Book. There is a lot of good info in it. This is the best we can do without having the badge in hand like Marc did.
                  I once flew in a B-17, B-24, & a B-25. Next, I want to fire an 88 round.

                    Ray,

I am sorry that this occured, as a result of me simply asking for advice about a badge on the e-stand. I actually don't blame you for removing your entire comment, as a result. I realize that you were only trying to help me, and I do greatly appreciate that, regardless of the attitude and behavior of Chet Sowersby.

                    Sincerely,

                    Chris
