      Hi Mike,

Saw that one too and chuckled. A lot of effort went into it though.

Seeing efforts like this though and then looking back at the crown Pilot Badges, which use the same basic reverse rayback and markings, pretty much kills debate about those "crown" badges imo. The fakers have gone one step too far and diversified into something they should not have touched.

Saw that one too. Could not figure out why they put that reverse on it. seemed like such a gross error that it made me wonder if any others like this had been seen before. It seems so very wrong that it made me wonder why one would go that route. hve any others like this turned up in the past?

The phrase "greedy idiots" springs to mind.

Thanks to all for your opinions. I've been collecting a loonngg time and I always am tempted to buy something I've never seen before---like this badge. Not the phony enamels, but this one was so different and I could imagine that the first models could be made in the WWI likeness....oh well. Even an old dog learns new tricks!!! Thanks again...Mike This was a good first post...

That badge had a head like a mud puppy.

Oh, that thread was dug out

here is a better picture of Zundorf wearing his badge. But according to period pics, it seems that Zündorf owned more than one type

A close up of a period picture (H Becker, RK träger) showing which seems to be the same badge as Prosper and Stump.

                          Hello,

recently, I've been discussing with a fellow collector, about the Panzertruppenabzeichen der Legion Condor, after a new article on this subject has been published on an Italian militaria magazine.

That's why I've read once again this thread, in order to refresh my knowledge.

What I didn't notice the first time I've read the posts here, is that the Bartz badge posted by W.C. Stump (#60) is from the same die as the one published in K.G. Klietmann's "Deutsche Auszeichnungen", 1971 edition, vol. 1, plate XI, fig. 3. The only difference is that the published piece has "pierced" details on top of the wreath and aside the crossed bones.

                          Best wishes,

                          Elmar Lang

                            Hello all,

I would appreciate some help here. After I was reviewing this thread and looked at W.C. Stump's badge I made a side by side comparison with a badge I want to purchase in a Veteran acquired grouping:

                            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=478976

To me, they are rather similar but obviously the badge on the left has had its excess metal cleaned and removed.

Does anyone have reverse hardware photographs of Stump's badge or perhaps know where it currently resides?

Sorry William, but it is not the same manufacture. look closely, compare each leave, each ribbon, each bone, the tank details and you will see the differences.

                                Agreed!

Many variations between the 2 badges, they cannot be considered to be the same.

Weak details too on the wheels, most accepted types have better definition to the wheels not just blank circles. Go back through this thread and study carefully.

                                regards
