IAB CW - About originality and needle.

    Hi there,

I'm posting some pics of my IAB by Carl Wild. I've always wondered if this one is original or not since I got it some years ago. Now it's time to put end to these doubts.
I've done research on this one in the forum and I've found some good examples of CW IAB's. After having compared this badge to some others considered originals, I can say mine seems to be a good one. But the main doubt I have in this case is regarding the needle, because it seems too new and it's not horizontally fixed, I mean, it moves from left to right easily. Maybe it is a replacement needle... Your help would be much apreciated!

Oh damn! In 2005 I started a thread asking for a review on this one and the conclussion was completely different! And you might ask: why again the same review? Ok. I've started again a thread about this IAB because some people have told me it's original with a new needle and others that it's a fake! What can I do now? Should I conclude that it's definitely a fake forgetting the old review? Maybe the thread from 2005 had opinions of people that nowadays know more about this kind of badges (some of them are moderators now!!!! C'mon don't get angry with me mates! "Errare humanum est")
I mean, if I want to sell it here, should I consider the thread from 2005 as the right one or otherwise the right one is this one?
Maybe the photos I took then were misleading...

Ricardo, the pictures from your original thread are gone. So we can only guess why you may have received different views. Perhaps the original pictures were not as good quality? Perhaps we have learned more since then.

                            Hi ricardo

No one is going to get angry with you. Harry pointed out many good reasons why another conclusion could havebeen initially reached. The pics in this thread are very good and show lots of detail..

Please add a link to your old thread if you have not already done so, so we can see what was discussed.

From the pics you now show, the hinge is definitely bad, not just the pin. If you post dimensions and weight that might help determine if it is a bad casting.

                            cheers
                            Graeme

Yes HC. It's possible. That's one of the conclusions I've got to. Maybe we've learned many things since then. Ok, I'll take this thread as the official review of this IAB, so it disappears forever from my collection (it doesn't deserve to be there!). Bye bye Fake IAB! Let's quest for a nice original one!

                              Thanks!
