    Heer Flak opinions

    Hi guys , could I please have some opinions on the Heer Flak badge from this thread ..Thank you

    This badge very much resembles the Vienna Design 'Pillow Crimp' Heeresflak, at least the obverse view. The wing not touching the gun barrel is unique to this Pillow Crimp. But, the reverse pin assemply and lack of 'pillow' crimp has me confused. Perhaps Marc, the flak expert, can shed some light on this.

      I would say not good; the catch is not like on the pillow-crimp and it misses the horizontal stripes on the back.

        Yes, very true.

            Yes, as I said before 'the lack of the crimping' on the reverse had me confused. The obverse resembles the pillow crimp flak in many ways, especially the wing not touching the barrel, the rivets on the breech, the rivet count under the breech, the eagle, etc.

            I'm not saying the badge is an original. I was leaving this for the experts to declare. I just noticed some similarities to the obverse.

              Hi, here are some better pictures. This badge came out of an German estate sale in 1989 although I know that doesn't really mean anything.

                  Besides the Pillow-crimp the Gustav Brehmer is the only one where the wingtip is not touching the barrel. A totally different catch though..

                    I cover this badge in my book but I am on the road the next few days. It is not an accepted maker (there are 9 I know of) but from a "hoard" that was "found" a few years ago. I do not know if it is real or fake as I was unable to get anyone to give me one to handle. Because of this it is up to the collector. It is sometimes called the gray-back because many were found with gray paint on the back.
