    Silver IAB maker ideas?

Anyone have any ideas as to the maker of this unmarked IAB in silver?

I guess this is a two pronged e-mail as well. As you can see, there is a little zinc pest on the rifle and on the left wing. I smothered vaseline all over and let it set overnight, but it was still there. I am very hesitant to soak it in water because as you can see, there is already rust on the back near the hinge and catch. Any suggestions?

Side note, some of the rust has come off with the vaseline.

Michou is correct, a late war FLL.
          Kind regards,

Thanks guys. I'll take some pics later, at the moment it is covered in Vaseline.

But the second part of this post, is the zincPest that is plaguing this badge.
Here is a before and after shot. The zincPest is muted, but still there. This is after two 24 hour applications of Vaseline only (no water soaking because scared of more rust). Any suggestions? Or do you think this is just this particular badge? I'm wondering if other badges will have different results?

                    Hi Chad,

I agree with the others, a late war FLL IAB.

As far as the zinkpest goes, coating it in vaseline usually gets rid of the powdery white substance, but the zink base metal will still look corroded a bit. Vaseline will help stop the oxidation process of the zink because it seals it, but it will always stay corroded. It will not make the corrosion worse. So, there is just so much you can do with vaseline (besides the obvious ).

Also, you need to make sure the zink is totally dry before applying the vaseline, our you will trap water under it and make the corrosion worse.

                    Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
