    Brehmer Heeresflak

    Gents,

In my book (available here: http://www.ironcross1939.com/flak_badge.htm ) I note that on the day she is published I will figure out an unknown maker. Well, how true it is! I have speculated on GCA about the Brehmer Heer Flak, but until now i did not have what I thought was solid proof. Now I have it. On page 420 of my book I list a badge by a maker I note is somewhere between S&L and Juncker, but is hard to catagorize. Now we can say it is GB! And why not? GB made luft flaks, and gorgeous ones. These Heeresflaks by GB are found in Tombak and Zinc. The eagle's legs are very reminiscent of GB numbered panzer badges. The hinge has a crimp marking unique to GB, and found on all the Luft Flaks by them. And now we have a typical GB catch. I have seen four of these in the last five years, so they have not popped up today. Of course I am a fairly young collector (ahem) so for all I know Hritz has a stack of them...

      Thank you very much Marc,

An outstanding find, and now that you've pointed the way, it makes perfect since. All the components match GB. Now it's off to find a tombak version.

You are killing me! Well, you have to have a cutoff date. I wonder how many new CCC Durante has figured out since his book! But at least I am not sitting on my laurels...

                Indeed a great find!

Marc, we all know you are the king of all things flak related, but give credit where credit is due my friend - to Philippe DeBock for first making the connection:

                Can't wait for the book!!

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Of course it was Phil who made the connection! He is missed here on the WAF. I held off on confirming it until I had more info. I wanted solid hinge and catch at least.

Hey hey hey, don't drag me into this! Don't hold me accountable for your book being obsolete before it is shipped out to the first customer. I change my mind, I am with Don and will wait for the 2nd addition

By the way, you will not find 1 original CCC that was missed in my CCC book, almost a full year since publication and counting

Awesome Tom! And your CCC book is a rock - I love it. Now why don't you do another badge? Don't waste your talents on engineering. I fear for anyone who lives in one of your buildings, but I would buy a CCC from you any day!

In your post #2, donĀ“t you think that hook has been repaired?
That looks like soft solder to me and fairly new.

The second badge in your post #1 has a hook very like FLL CCCs or pilot badges.

                              Markus,
I really can't say about the catch on post #2, but the hinge is classic Brehmer. As for the FLL-like catch they actually had very similar ones. Brehmer used a round plate and FLL used an oval one.
