So what's the deal: second maker (Deschler propably?) worked with somekinda "mesh" tool to stipple each medal? The other one type has a regular , even pebbling.. here is mine

cysior, this one looks like a good Deschler.

These medals can be very difficult to judge using photos. The best way to take pics is with a scanner. That way, you get even lighting and a flat, front-on view.

What I didn't like about stewy's was the wreath binding and the acorn shells. But, this could just be the way the picture was taken -- especially since this example has lost most of its finish.

I will post some closeups of authentic examples and stewy can make his own judgement.

              First is a Deschler.

Here is a P&L with a somewhat worn finish.

                  Another P&L with better finish.

The main difference between the 2 makers

                  1) Deschler as a shorter, fatter, jump ring.
                  2) P&L has much coarser pebbling.
                  3) Deschler has more defined acorn shell cross hatching.

The pebbling should extend all the way inside the leaves. But, with Deschler's, the pebbling is so fine that the medal has to be at the right angle to see this interior pebbling.

Fortunately, no one has made a really good repro of this medal. The ones to watch out for are the casts. Sometimes with a posted picture, I can't tell if I see casting pits or a banged up medal. If the picture is low res, I can't tell if the pebbling is even, or the light and low resolution just makes it look that way.

Hopefully, these pics can help you make your own decisions as you examine your medals in hand.

I don't have an accurate scale right now, but I believe this info has been posted before. It might require some searching (also check the General Wehrmacht Awards forum).

Curt! I was trying to use scaner but because of the ring - scan is not sharp and part of the medal is blurry - i don't know how to use scaner with uneven objects.
Anyway I used strong loop and different angles but i don't think that the pebling extend all the way inside all leaves. But i agree with others - medal is fine, case and ribbon is good too. Medal came with the same source as my another fine ss cased award - 8 year - which i showed up here:
