It´s a so called "Egghead" and the maker is still unknown.
                Regards

I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                  Hi guys,

thanks for your replies. I did a search on 'egg head' and am now well informed on this varient, thanks Hans. It's a nice example, with pretty much all of it's finish and a nice patina. Picked it up at the Military Oddysey this weekend for a good price, I'm very happy.

                    Hi Paul

IMO this is a very convincing fake of the egghead, that probably originated in the UK a couple of years ago.

                    sorry

                    Graeme

                      Hello Graeme,

what makes you think it is a fake? I cannot see anything bad about it. Here are some more details. Weight: 27.7g, length (from eagles head to centre of bow) 61.3mm, width 46.6mm. Non magnetic pin, hinge and catch. Evidence of hand finishing. Do these specs match up with other peoples examples?

Here is the reason for it, an old thread over at GCA which i had forgot but Graeme kindly reminded me of it and i have to agree that this indeed is a nasty Egghead fake.

                          Hello again Hans,

thanks for the link. Well that is scary!! I will have to post this one in the fake's gallery. It is highly convincing! The rifle butt was the clincher to convince me, it is filed flat on the end (as I had previously mentioned the hand finishing), which is probably where the casting port remnants are filed off.

I knew it was too good to be true! I will endeavour to get my money back then!
