I am planning to sell this bronze CCC on the e-stand and decided to post it for comments before making a arse of myself on the e-stand. I am not a badge guy, so the knowledge is very limited. Please help with comments. Jacques

I'm used to making an arse of myself on the forum, so I'll give it a try.
Looks like a large font A.G.M.u.K type 1.1.2. These are common and usually keep their finish very well (back plate included). I have seen a few of these with the blue finish 100% intact on the back plate for a reasonable price, as yours is not and your price should reflect. Personally, I like this type of pin though. I do believe this is an original badge as I don't see the tell tale marks as shown in the repro section of Tom's book. Or does that eagle have hairy legs?

Does anyone else think that the back plate looks forced in?. The clips? or pins holding it in look some what out of shape and the back plate its self seems to have dents where it has been forced in.

Hi AJ,
Those dents frenquently occurred when the crimps were squeezed down over the plate at the time of production. It would be near impossible to pop in a new plate without bending the clasp, which would certainly break it. Even if you were able to bend the clasp enough to fit the plate in, the force of bending the clasp back would not create deep dents like you see in the plate. The plates are made from steel and very hard, the tabs would have to be "re-hammered" to dent them. A near impossible feat on a zinc clasp and we would see signs of re-hammering over the existing tabs.

And still a very nice looking CCC even if the blued backplate has lost some of its finish. Would display very nicely from the front.
