    IAB in silver

    Hi,

I'm posting this badge for your thoughts on behalf of member Roman, this looks like a Juncker to me, any other thoughts ?

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

      Dear Marcus

Like I already explained to Roman; untill we find a marked one, this could be made by any maker. There is no proof what so ever that Juncker was the only maker using this setup. There is a lot of proof that they were not the only one.

I would tip more towards Zimmermann. I think Juncker tended to put their hinge/catches into slots.

If there is anything that this badge DOESN'T look like, it's a Fritz Zimmermann. Take a look at:

          1. The obverse characteristics.

          2. The attachment mechanism.

            Yuri,

Do you have a Zimmerman we could see?

                  Hi Guys,

I tend to agree with Yuri. All Zimmermann IAB's I know off are maker marked and there is a known evolution pattern in the reverse setup they used.

Would be very unlikely that they kept there reverse setup and used a completely new die for there IAB's.

                    OK, OK,

it was late at night and maybe I did´nt look to exact at the images

Of course I can see that it´s not the Zimmermann, what I really meant to say was that the hardwear looks also like a Zimmermann.

This badge looks very similar to a badge I posted in this thread, which I now own:
                      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=juncker+iab

I'm not convinced it is original; I paid repro price for it.

                        Hi Harry,

If yours looks like the one above It's my opinion that you can rest assured. Just looked at the other thread again, difficulty than was that due the flash on the pictures there wasn't much detail to see.

So if the IAB is yours now maybe you could post some better pictures of it, sure looks like an absolute mint badge and in favor of yours is the fact that it has the flat wire catch, which you would expect to see on these setups.

Not sure if this pic is better or not. No detail on the legs, appears to be wear. This badge is not zinc, and is almost completely flat. Has a box around the hinge, but probably not the catch plate. Flat wire catch.

                              Hi Harry,

Ok based upon these pics I can see why you where worried. Alltough the general details ar all there they are less pronounced than on the IAB posted by Marcus.

On your badge I also immediately noticed the swas that looks completely out of shape. Looks like Marcus badge has the same probem but less obvious.

All things considered I'm still positive on this IAB. For sure not the nicest variant you can find but original IMO
