Yes, a pretty shocking one-piece casting. Simply no nice way to break the news to your friend - sorry.

Was it bought as a "ground dug" PAB? Because that could be the only explanation for somebody new to be taken in by it. Stewy

It was not bought as a ground dug, i bought it ,and did not know what it was, and i only researched it when i got home, to find
that it was/is supposed to be PAB50 as i am new to dealing/collecting
what is interesting about this badge, is that it appears to have wear and tare, most of the other similar badges that i have viewed on the forum here,
all appear to be in pristine condition which i find to be unbelievable that they could be genuine, for
to have been around for 65 years or more, and not have a blemish and some even with fresh paint, is nothing short of a miracle,

It's not about the badge being a repro/copy, if this is the case then i do not have any real worries, i will not lose, because it was bought in,
part of a lot, and some of the other items will make up for it, while i probably will not gain as much, thats not my point
what i would like is more explanation to it's dismissal, and some proper comparison, with the real mc coy's,
ie if a legitimate PAB50 was displayed on this thread and the differences pointed out, then this would be a fair trial for my badge,
as it appears to have some real history behind it, which is more than i can say for some of the newer appearance,
from the gleaming models that i have seen posted on the forum, and i appreciate that the forum is excelent, with so much covered,
that i will for definate learn so much, in time to come.
thanks for everyones oppinions and i await some more

point to note, while it could be a bad ugly, and not even a close copy, the rivets are very visible on either side, so it is certainly not just a one piece casting,
                        but it sure is nice

Your badge is not real. It does not conform to known construction standards, methods or materials. The fact that the number plate is cast as part of the badge is just one indicator. The fact the tank is cast as part of the badge is another. It should also be a seperately applied piece. The reverse set up is wrong. No Known originals have this type set up.

This badge looks more like a try of a 12 year old to copy a badge. This is not even close to the genuine examples and the craftsmanship of that era. Sorry. Can you post the other items of the lot you purchased?

                            Regards,

Thats fair enough, this is the sort of answers i was hoping for in relation to construction formations etc, i realise that you guys know your stuff and i am glad to be on this forum, thanks

One of the other items was already posted, and i have got bad news on this aswell it is the ww1 wound badge, with the unusual pin,
the other bits while i do not hold much hope, for most of them, i will post a.s.a.p but i am not fully sure how to attach a photo yet, and they all would have to go to different threads, as it includes 2 helmets, a k98 bayonet, a watch, a clock, Jewish geld, other badges, and military photos
