    yet another Narvik, reassurance please?

Hi, could the people who have a fast connection please check out this 800kb high res image of my Narvik, and give me your opinions, ive done a black light test and nothing glows, its got 4 pins pointing towards each other towards the centre, with paper backing, and a magnet wont stick to any part of it.

    Dear Paul,

It is in every detail the same as this fake Narvik here, which is a bad sign. In my opinion a very dangerous fake. What does your reverse look like?

The reverse has a sort of a grease proof type paper, glued onto the back of the fabric. If this is a fake badge what ammunition do i have to return it, for example what makes this such an obvious fake, as no doubt the dealer will ask me why i think its afake, when i ask for my money back.

Ill get a scan in tonight, i also bought a fake one from a UK badge dealer nicholas morgi or somthing like that, ill also get a scan of that, i did notice the fake one i bought had the steps at the top going all the way through the wings.

          Dear Paul,

Frankly, it will be very hard to return it. What I gave you is just my opinion, my personal conviction.

Maybe if you print out my pics and show the bogus reverse. But this might not be proof enough.

Admittedly, most of these shield fakes look very good and believable. If the dealer will take it back, you are lucky, it will completely depend on his goodwill.

How was I convinced this EXACT type is fake? It took long obsevation of the source cited in the reverse picture. A major fake monger. Looking at the reverse and the fact that he churns these out in numbers, lead to the firm assumption that these are no good.

Frank, ive just compared my Known fake (left hand side one) to the one i bought from a dealer who claimed it was original. Take a look and see what you think. the fake one cost approx 13 uk pounds (im a re-enactor and when needs must).

              Dear Paul,

The two you show in that link are indeed very different. But important is that your shield (the supposedly good one) resembles the fake shield I pictured in this thread like one egg another. Check all the obverse details, they sure are the same.

The fake Narvik shield you show in your comparison is one that is quite easy to spot. The problem is that Narvik shields are possibly the best and most faked shields around.
I walked a show in Germany recently especially looking for a Narvik shield. Among the estimated 50 I found on offer, I was happy with 4 that I examined! The guys that sold these 4 knew they had good ones and priced them accordingly. 250-300 EUR for a (zinker) Narvik is just a bit insane.

              Cheers, Frank

                Hi Paul,

I agree with Frank, the Narvik Shield like all Shiels in fact is highly copied and the copies are very good.

In my opion if you find an original Narvik than it's definetly a keeper. This shield was only awarded 8577 times. Even if each recipient recieved 3 awards for use on different uniforms this still makes the Narvik shield as rare as an RK. Taken in to account that it is such a rare shield the prices are ridiculously low. IMO the only reason for them being so low is that nobody can't make the difference any more between an original and a copy and probably 9 out of 10 of these badges are indeed copies.

So if you want one of these badges, you better buy them only from the most reputable dealer with COA or you search for one with proven provenance.

Here is mine which is a 100% original, and actualy worn example
