    Assmann another logo variant?

    Hi Guys,

    After Skip posted his Assmann para with round logo I did some searching in an effort to find all the acceptable variants of the logo. While doing so I noticed that on my own Assmann Pilot badge there was yet another variant that I never have seen before.

    On all the Assmann "A"'s I encountered untill now the two little stripes on the bottom of the legs of the "A" are always 100 horizontal. On the one I'll post now they are cleary angled.

    If anybody else has an Assmann badge in his collection with this type of "A" I would realy appreciate seeing some pictures of it.

    Hello Philippe,

    I had a couple of Assman Observers with this same logo, original pieces same angle as your example. I posted a thread about these a while ago, as I was concerned the first time I encountered them.

        It was a while ago when I posted a piece that I was interested in buying, in the end I did not buy the piece,BUT, it was vetted by about three persons that I would trust in their opinions.

          Hi Philippe,

          Actually, looking at the marking on your badge and the marking on skip's recently discussed Para badge, I think they are the same - skip's is just more deeply impressed such that the rim of the maker's mark punch is also impressed. Maybe you two should try and compare the sizes of the maker's marks, (although I agree that with such a small measurement there is a lot more room for error)? I don't have any image manipulation software with me on this work computer otherwise I'd do up a comparison image (leaving out John's "old man" version )

            Good observation Mike, your right the little stripes are also angled on that one. Never even noticed that.

            Going to compare that to other round marks I have saved on my home PC which show the circle in different stages of impression.

            If this is the case than maybe the circle is just the result of the Maker stamp getting more and more worn. This way it would have been necessary to hit the stamp harder each time untill not only the "A" got imprinted but the whole stamp silhouette became visible.
