    Close Combat Clasp?

    Me and a friend had a discussion about this award and my question is how common (if it ever happend) it was that any soldier recieved the CCC without having the EK I? Would be very grateful for an answer.

    Hi Olsson,

    Sure, it was certainly known and documented that some soldiers were awarded the CCC without first having the EK1. At the first award ceremony for the CCC in Gold, there were 2 recipients (out of only 14) that didn't have the EK1, so Hitler made a decree that stated soldiers receiving the CCC in Silver would automatically be awarded the EK1 and that CCC in Gold recipients receive the DK.
