Tom, You are correct in that there are some good guys there and there is nothing stopping them from posting here.
The number of posts in a thread has nothing to do with the quality of the posts and I see nothing there that is any better to tell the truth.

Marc, the ball hinge crimp would have been easier and cheaper labor wise to do than soldering. 4 years of metal shop talls me that.

Mike, most of the records for these companies were probably thrown in the streets by the squatters that inhabit the place now.

It's an acronym for Arbeitsgemeinschaft Metall und Kunststoff, Gablonz, a partnership who manufactured items in the city of Gablonz.
