This is a very crude fake and I think we would count ourselfs very lucky if all were so easy to recognize. Sorry Herman.

Hi Herman,

Just looked at your profile but you didn't leave us much to go on.

I can assure you that you don't have to be a goeroe to recognize this fake. I don't know what your collecting interest are and how experienced you are in 3 reich war badges, but it's something we see quit regular on this forum. New members arrive with the most exotic stuff first. I'm sure that from our 2500 members not more then 10 will have a genuin JFS GAB 100 in there collection. These badges are without a doubt the most rare thinks you can dream of and the most offen copied.

So chances that a new member arrives with a genuin badge are rather small. If you have other itmes in your collection don't hessitate to show them. If you hang arround on this forum on a regular basis you also will gather a lot of knowledge to build your collection on, and you will encounter a lot of people prepared to share there Knowledge with you. Welcome aboard.

Herman, would you care to explain why you listed this badge on Ebay with a disclaimer "I have no history for this badge so I can not tell you its a real one or not"?? Didnt you just get a VERY clear response on this forum?

Come out of the doghouse, pal. We're here to help, believe me. That's what this forum is all about. That's why you joined, right? I suggest you edit or relist the badge on eBay as being a repro and start over again. Nothing lost. There are probably a lot of people in this ol' world who would buy it and display it as a representative piece to the very rare real piece.

Rather than discussing this incident in public, I PM'ed our new member Herman and explained to him why what he did is absolutely unacceptable as a member of this forum.

Herman's story is the same as we have heard so often in the past. A beginning collector to whom were sold a lot of fake badges. By putting them on e-bay and leaving the truth in the middle he was "wrongly" hoping to recuperate some of his losses.

I explained to Herman that we honour some kind of unwritten code on the forum "to never knowingly sell a fake badge to anybody else".

It's my understanding that after recuperating from his initial shock when reading Vadim's reaction, it's now clear to him why we won't allow this kind of actions by our members.

So I hope Herman will come forward himself to set the record straight, and I'm sure we all will give him a second chance and the opportunity to show us the rest of his collection.

I want to excuse for what’s happens on my decision to sell this badge by not make the attention that’s it’s a copy. Sorry, my mistake won't happen again!
