      Hi Thomas,

I have no problems with this clasp, a perfectly textbook 1.12.2 CCC. JFS clasps are very well known to have great, thick bronze finishes. You can see evidence at the reverse top and left side of the clasp that the finish was worn away. This would have to be some aggressive storage conditions to do this to a JFS clasp, and even possibly was underground for a brief point. IMO, that would be consistent with what we see on the backplate.

The hinge, pin and catch on JFS clasps are also magnetic, so I think we would probably find some rust on these as well. I think I can see some on the catch, specifically inside of the crimp area.

The backplate looks shiny and not black, but I think it is the angle of the photograph. JFS clasps have a very "metallic" look to them, and they can look very different at viewed from slightly different angles.

      Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
