For those badge collectors that would like to carry the collected wisdom of this forum put to paper I would recommend buying the following books:

1. Frank Heukemes' "Guide to German Awards of WW2, Vol 1: The General Assualt Badge."

2. Tom Durante's "The German Close Combat Clasp of WW2."

3. Marc Garlasco's "The Flak Badges."

4. Sascha Weber's "The Infantry Assualt Badges."

They can be easily carried into shows and used to authenticate good pieces. They are all significantly cheaper than the badges they explore and will save you time, money, and that greasy feeling you get around your 4th point of contact when you realize you've been screwed by an unscrupulous dealer. Unlike some writers who produce books to legitimize thier bogus items so they can sell them, these authors are all fine, outstanding contributers of this great forum. My hat is off to them. Not only are the books good for identifying good from bad but they have a good bit of annecdotal history of the awards and some of the recipiants. A good read all around.

Dries Coolens Book

This limited print run of 100 copies of Dries Coolens' memoir comes signed by the author with a dedication, printed in English for the first time. Dries Coolens served first in the Flemish SS Legion, and later the 27th SS Grenadier Division "Langemarck".
