I will from now on affectionately call this type of finish on the Hero's badges as "stinkpest".

    Tom

I like that, classic! Will they be labled that way in the next book?

Why don't we contact the German authorities, accuse him of manufacturing, distributing rhetorical pieces of National Socialism, and then we all, 6000 members can conspire, contact those authorities and report that he is the head of a subversive Neo-NSDAP German organization, bent on reinstating the reich by overthrowing the existng government. Between our collective testimony, and his piles of reproduction badges and God only knows what else, we can have him put away. And if that doesn't work, we'll all say he was in Afghanistan prior to 2001, then moved to Iraq in 2003, and has established a base in Iran. If the Germans won't get him, the American govt. will. Oh wait, if we did did that together....hmm sounds like something the Nazis would have done

Tom - a couple of questions regarding this fake:

One, does it have a "nonmagnetic" backplate?

Two, does it display "C.F.JUNCKER" or "C.E.JUNCKER" ?

          Hi guys,

Tim, this example is a copy of a perfectly textbook 1.13.2 Juncker CCC, so it does infact have the "C.E. Juncker" maker mark. Remember that he is CASTING his fakes from an original, so all the die characteristics of the original will be there, just a bit softer in detail. Usually, when I spot a new fake, I go to his website and sure enough, I can find the original clasp he used as the mould to make these fakes. In this case, an original 1.13.2 Juncker clasp, which was on his website about a year ago. I saved the pictures and here it is, the original in which he used to make the fake that started this thread. Look closely, especially at the top left eagle wing and you will see the same wear pattern. Same thing with the cut out of the eagles wings, they match 100%.

On the backplate, I am not sure if it is magnetic or not since I am only looking at pics on his website. I will surely run into some of these at the MAX show in October and I plan on getting some dimensions when I am there. Since these are very good castings, I am hoping that the dimensions will be off from originals, that will be another good helpful aspect for us.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi Pieter,

Yes, the pin is one of the things wrong with this fake. Hardware can be fixed though and it is something that the Hero works on regularly, so in time the only way to tell his fakes will be to look for certain die characteristics that show up on every one of his fakes, but no necessarily on the originals. Since he uses originals to cast his fakes, the fakes will pick up the individual wear pattern of that 1 original, but that won't be found on other originals. For instance, the original Juncker CCC he used for this fake has a very worn left eagle wing. It is a unique mark to that 1 original clasp, and not found on any other original clasp. BUT, it does however show up on the 3 fake Juncker CCCs he's made over the past year, clear evidence that he used this original as a mould for his fakes.

Over at GCA, we have catalogued all his fake CCCs, PABs, IABs & GABs in a fake database. Pretty interesting to look at his progression on his fakes over the years, usually after we discuss the bade on the forum.

When he sells them does he give his coa with each one like this
OSANG marked Heer flak. By the way its been for sale on Epier for
a while now. Quite the place to find copys. Some sellers only have fakes
                for sale. Sad.

Thanks for the information about this, Tom! I'm also keeping an eye on the additional info about this in the thread on GCA. This is certainly a frightening new development in the accuracy and deception of faking. The best defense we all have is to know as much about such things as possible. Thanks again for that!

And while we're at it, let's string up Johannes Floch and floch him with a cat-o-9 tails made from his crosses!

Interestingly, there seems to be a rustic sense of fondness alot of collectors assign to people like J. Flock and J. Atwood. "fathers" of the hobby and "fathers" of the reproduction pieces.

I agree 100%.I have known both of these guys for many years.I know Atwood is dead but I don't about Flock.I bought a few fake ss daggers from Atwood back in the 60's and had Floch make me one of his "special German crosses in gold"in 1970 when I was living in Amsterdam.Atwood had a ton of orig. German helmet decals I was able too buy some from him but Charly Snyder got the most of anybody.Floch had 3 grades of fakes one was the flee-market type the second he sold in his catalog and the third was the SPECIAL ORDER ones that if he knew you or you were a big dealer he would make up for you from orig. material back in the early 70's.I think it was the 3rd MAX show(I can't remember)Atwood was guest speaker at the show and got a standing ovation at the end after he said I think I will make more daggers in the comming years .Floch you could always find in his hotel room or in the parking lot selling his **** before the show.I remember one time many years ago he had some of the Best SS officer dress belt and buckle sets I had ever seen. These were sold too big name dealers and went in 3 hours after it was known that he had them. I have seen these in collections today and the owners swear they are the real deal .Yea these scumbags really helped the hobby .

May we not forget those that gave their lives so we can be FREE
