a very nice example of the Juncker NS IAB with the C-shape catch!!! They are not that often seen in my opinion. Here's my example I got some weeks ago.
Great piece Sven! --I thought you guys would appreciate a bit of WAF nostalgia, which is why I brought this thread back up. I tend to think the flat catch types were among the 1st produced. If you look at both Sven's and the one in this thread, you can't help, but notice the chiselled look on that eagle. Lighter in weight too. How much does yours weigh Sven? Around 12g??
Hi Luggas. If you look at your example, the "tuft" ontop of the head sits higher than average. I've noticed this attribute on only one other "flat catch" Juncker, which sits slightly higher. Don't know what to make of that, but it's either die related (pointing to earlier production), or perhaps, a special version for higher ranks. Just my opinion based on observations.
I think a better term is "gendre specific" to this early (likely 1st run) of the Juncker, nickel/brass based, Infantry Assault. The catch can be found on the earliest army flak badge, even the U-Boat badge, by the same maker. The common ground there is "early", not "typical".
