The (genuine) Anti-Partisan Warfare Badge must be the rarest one, maybe pipped by the CCC in Gold. Not sure if the jump badge counts because it is not really a "war badge", is it? You forgot the Sniper Badge, which was certainly produced before the end of the war even if nobody wore it because of the risk if taken prisoner.

...Personaly I believe the 800 FIK engraved is the hardest to find.
But the first model Gold presentation clasps was only 50 times produced, where there more FIK made , perhaps Eric knows I don't.

I'm really surprised the consensus of opinion puts the numbered pab as rarer than the numbered gab I have been looking for a good 25 gab for 12mths or so and have only seen 2 good examples come up for sale.

I'm suprised at how often the Balloon Badge was mentioned.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, that's how WWI got started.

Not a lot of talk about how rare the snipers badge might be.....

I think that would be rarer than any PAB or GAB

I also think the rarest is the Sniper Badge.
Why it was not taken up in the list ?

Bit of a trick question given the anonimity of German decorations.

Some of these badges could be awarded to service branches other than the Heer and from the badge itself you have no way of knowing who it was awarded to. Take the antipartisan badge, when it does show up in photos and documents most seem to be to SS or polizei units with the Heer, KM and LW following. Therefore, of those awarded APB seen in the collectors community, what percentage might have been awarded to a member of the Heer?

I'd also argue a case for the drivers badge to be included, a wartime qualification type award like the others. In paperwork, the bronze grade turns up here and there but how often have you seen an award on paper for the silver or gold? It's right up there with the numbered assault badges.

The rarest badge is always the one you want, but don't have. You never seem to find an original example.

For those badges that were generally awarded I have to go with the Heer Para badge.

Rarest Army War Badge is imho the CCC gold with top hook ...

Btw: the TDB is also missing - the golden one is quite rare
