Opinions on a couple of Naval badges.

    Hello all,

I'm asking for opinions on a couple of naval badges that are coming up for sale soon. They are from an old collection but that means nothing anymore.

The first is a Destroyer Badge that I'm 50/50 on. I initially had a good feeling on it but am not so sure anymore.

The second is an E-Boat Badge that just has me way off. I haven't handled too many of these so I can't make a fair judgement. The swastika really throws me.

I apologize for the pics but they were the best I could do at the time.

    Thanks,

    Greg

        E-Boat Eagle

Notice the "stepping" on the swastika. Just doesn't sit right with me. I could be wrong though.

Both badges look good to me. The "stepping" on the swaz of the E-Boat is typical.

Why are you 50-50 on the GWL destroyer?

Can not see something wrong with the badges, they look ok to me.

                Hi Greg,

Both badges look spot on genuine/correct to me as well. I think you can rest easy, these are NOT repros imo.

                    Thanks.

                    Hi all,

Thanks for your quick replies. Not being a Naval Badge guy I haven't taken the opportunity to handle too many genuine pieces. If it were a GAB, IAB, or even a PAB I wouldn't have a problem but with these I'm just not too sure. I initially had a good feeling on the Destroyer because the quality and weight are there. I did have doubts though as looking at a picture can't give you the same feeling as actually handling a genuine piece. The E-boat had me thrown. I had no idea one way or the other on that one.

Another question if I may. What would the fair market value be of these two pieces? What I mean by that is what would someone who collects these specific badges expect to pay on today's market? I'm way out of touch with these as I just never really had too much interest in them.

                    Thanks again,
                    Greg

Both badges are spot on for me as well.

The GWL Destroyer in "Buntmetal" are pretty rare and I count myself lucky to own one, price point of at least 300-350
                        Euros in good condition.

The Schwerin E Boat is much more common (if you can call it common), I personally prefer the AS in a triangle type, for the Schwerin you can expect to pay at least 400-450Euro

I have to concur with the other fellows, both badges look 100 percent correct to me...I had a GWL destroyer for sale on the forum back at a reasonable price and was suprised that nobody bought it considering the scarcity,

                            Thank you.

                            Hi,

Thanks for all the info that you guys provided. There are more badges similar to these in this collection. Your positive comments make me feel a little better about the rest. We'll see how it goes from here and, who knows? Maybe these will be in my collection soon enough.

                            Thanks again all,
                            Greg
