    Hey guys, I'm not an expert on these CCC badges at all, but I saw a picture of one the other day that was really unlike any of the ones posted here on the site. It had a strange wire-like clip on the back coming off the body of the badge in the area of where the eagles head would be located on the front. It then came down toward the center area. The badge appeared to be unmarked. Anyone ever see anything like this. I can send a picture to somebody if there is an interest.

          Hi,

          You are describing a very rare Close Combat Clasp that was Presented by Hitler, Himmler & Guderian. You can email me pictures at tmdurante@gmail.com and I will post them for you. Chances are though, you are looking at a reproduction, as these clasps are extremely rare.

                Hi guys,

                Here are the pictures. Unfortunately, as I suspected, it is a reproduction in my opinion. Variation of the Butterknife fake, Reproduction #5 in the CCC book. The typical butternkinfe fake has had the reverse modified to add the top hook and rivet, and removed the F&BL stamp from below the catch. Even with all these changes though, the obverse is unmistakable and another easy way to tell, just by looking at the reverse is the area under the backplate. Notice how there is much more material left on the left side the plate (underneath), vs. the right side. This is a common feature with these fakes, all made by the same maker, but he switches up the maker mark and hardware.
