Gents,
The last time we discussed the WH Wien Flak I had some rather crude images. I am certainly happy the member sent them my way, but they were just not up to snuff. I still have to say the supposed "bite" of the catch is not enough to make me believe in this badge, and I note Sowersby also does not like it. But to be fair we must talk it over. The hardware is generic but believeable. By generic I just mean, yes, this type was used on WH Flaks (Luftwaffe) but they are not special enough to be associated with a maker.
The overall detail is good.
Weight 27.8g
Height 60.05
Width: 44.56
The measurements are all within tolerances.
It does smell a bit like gun oil. The texture is zinc and not some slick thing.
To the badge. The head has an odd shape with a bit of a bulge to the left. Doesn't condemn it, just a note. There are no circles to the left of the gears which is a first for me on a Heeresflak. Note the tops of the claws are flat. This is seen on a number of fakes for some reason. Not saying this is but a note.
The reverse is interesting. There is a green finish much more visible on the reverse similar to the WH Luft flak finish. The solder areas are quite dark and sloppy. And the horizontal lines are quite noticeable.
Here is the maker mark
Hinge is quite believeable
And some hinge shots to finish it off.
