As for the badge- for an apparantly unissued piece the eagles feet are almost worn flat. What is the stuff that looks like fine dirt next to the eagle's left leg? Lastly, wouldn't this have been a die forged badge versus a die cast badge? If so you would not have a line. Oh yeah, the swaz makes me want to cry.
I agree with Don that there is a cause for concern when the badge is worn and it is unissued??? It does not add up? The swaz is a mess and the head on this thing looks as if it is stretching outward? It could just be an optical illusion.

                    Hi guys,

Marc, did Marcus ever get back to you on the box?

So, how do you classify this badge in your book, since you are pretty much done with it? Its tough to make the judgement call when to draw the line with adding things to the book. I had the same dilema with the CCC book. Seems like every other day some new info comes to light that will be great for the book, but you have to eventually send it to the publisher .

It's one of those things where you're darned if you do, and darned if you don't. I've had the priveledge of proof-reading Marc's book over the last two weeks, and knowing Marc's nature I know he wants everything in the book to be as humanly accurate as possible, just as you did, Tom. This is a touch call with such little to work with.

Perhaps a chapter on "Problematic badges" would suffice.

You don't know this guy, Don. He'll beat down every door in Germany until he finds a vet with one. He's an animal.

Then it would be a verified award and not problematic. If they are only found on dealer sites and ebay this is where the problem starts.
