Just FYI - Phil on GCA says the catch matches early FLL PABs and IABs. Interesting...now if only Marcus has a look at the box.

What do the weight and measurements tell us?

That it is ballpark for any Heeresflak. 29.3g, 59.72 x 44.10 mm - no red flags. A tad on the heavy side - the average is about 24g, but the Souval is upwards of 33!

            Marc,

Just FYI a PAB surfaced a few months ago on a dealer's site wrapped and boxed in the same style box. The logo was also faint and 'blurred' like this example. I was considering buying it until the badge was deemed repro, and no one went any further with the set. Marcus Hatton at that time took note to the box, and posted a couple he had, or maybe one. I honestly don't remember the outcome of the box, whether good or bad, and cannot find the old thread. I'm sure he'll be able to help with this, as I believe he has one or two of these boxes. Blacklighting his would be interesting.

              Marc,

It wasn't a PAB (stupid me), it was a flak. Perhaps this the same set up. There's no photo of the box, the dealer's page has been deleted. But look at the detailing of the swastika, the varnish - is this the same badge?

BINGO! Same badge. But who cares if it is not a pillow-crimp? There were FOUR makers I know of that used the Vienna design. What if this is FLL? What if it is a fake? Just goes to show that even after my exhaustive research for my book there is still a LOT to learn on the Heeresflak. I want to see what Hatton has to say on the box...

Here's a side by side of your original badge and the piece that was once deemed a fake (with the FLL hardware)...

Same exact badge - I just do not use flash and shoot at F-11 to get the best details without the finish shining too much...

                      Well Marc,

I may have passed up an original FLL flak in it's original box and tissue. I'll save from hanging myself until you can prove it otherwise.

So are you saying this badge could literally be the same badge as the piece in the old thread?

that swaz IMO is RE nazified. Sometime I get badges that were DE nazified and somewhere down the line someone takes a fine drill and carves the swaz out again from the blank field,,this has had it done IMO,,heres a sloppy one

                          Robert,

Just look at the dirt patterns - same exact badge.

                          Dion,

HOW many times can you change your Avatar? At least you have a real badge there now...

Thanks Hans - yes, this is the badge he sent me and as soon as I got it I thought - wow, this looks good. But I am always skeptical. But it looks like we may have found the FLL Heeresflak! Makes sense - they made Luft Flaks. Man, those 23 rivets are a lot though!
                              Marc

PS - oh Robert is gonna be pissed...

This is ONE popular little badge! It's really made full circle. Count the names, half of the forum members. It dazzled many.
