Tom hit the nail on the head - it's Bronze.

            Hi

I would have thought there would have been some bronze left somewhere, however small, on this CCC and surely the backing plate would not be silver, would it?

Ray, I havent had one in a long time and never really got into them. I thought all plates were usually blued or black.

                Hi guys,

The backplate was no doubt black at one point, but it looks like it has been totally worn away on the reverse. Looking through the central motif on the obverse, you can see remnants of the black finish on the plate.

I am having a hard time believing that this was a bronze grade myself based on these pics. Like Raymond, I would think that at least a tiny bit of finish would have been left on the clasp somewhere. F&BL was one of the makers that totally finished the hinge, pin and catch with the rest of the badge, and these all look like bear tombak or steel to me, not really a bronze finish. Dion, can you see any traces of silver on the inside of the pin or catch, look closely in the crevases?

Dion, another place to look is the solder between the catch and the catchplate. I don't think they made "bronze" solder, so if the connection point looks bronze, then I would agree with the others that it is most likely is a very worn bronze clasp.

                Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
