    GAB with the little W

    Hi guys,

I've just managed to add to my collection this GAB marked with the little w, how does it look ?

Regarding the finish on this badge, is this what is commonly called "frosting"? Maybe due to the flash is not evident, but the badge has a light grey finish in the recesses, while the high spots are polished.

    Cheers,
    Matteo

        Hello Mattoe,

This is a very nice badge and quite rare IMO. Here is mine to compare, they both don't have the SUNKEN or recessed "W" that has been seen lately!!!

        Regards,

        Anthony

            Hi Matteo,

Nice honest badge. I'm expecting one of these myself in a couple of days.

Concerning the "frosting" that is what you clearly see on the badge posted by Anthony and what gives the badge a white look.
The polishing on Anthony's GAB is visible on the outer ends of the eagle's wings, the bayonet blade and at the end of the hand grenade.

I'm still wondering if all the badges where originaly finished like this or if this was a finish only used on badges to be worn on a parade uniform. For sure I wouldn't be willing to wear such a badge standing on the Russian steppe watching if the enemy was already in sight

Anthony, your GAB has a fantastic frosting, you should teach me how you did it for my next badge!

Phil, I'm waiting to see your example...

One more question to Anthony and Jan: what's the weight of your badge? Mine weighs 32.15g

                  Cheers,
                  Matteo
