What do you think about this badge? Looking at page #356 of Frank Heukemes book, it presents several similar particulars but weight and measurements don't corresponde ( Height 56.85, Width 48.40, Weight 30,32 ). Thanks in advance for your opinions.

GAB 75: real or fake?

I would personally pass on this example. It is not the same badge as the type you referenced in Frank's book(which is a fake).
It is close to the unknown maker number 2, however the reverse lacks the definition found in the original unknown maker number 2 examples. I cannot say for certain it is fake, but I see enough things that would cause me concern. best wishes,
jeffLooking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

[QUOTE=AZartman;2253663]Val- you may want to touch base directly with Frank Heukemes. He has written a VERY detailed book on these with TONS of very high resolution photos and detailed analysis. He would be what many would consider a world authority on these rare badges. He may be able to help you find out what you are looking for. You may also want to buy his book if you plan on continuing to delve into these highly sought after bages (and highly faked).
I bought is book as first one in Italy, I presume, and just for that I thought the badge could be the "unknown maker #3" even if some difference. I'll be very grateful to Frank if he would like to give me his definitive opinion.

Best of luck. I'm no expert on these but there were some features of the reverse that I liked. I'm sorry I missed the part in your first post that mentioned directly that you had his book. Oops sorry.
