Good call. I'm glad someone's on the ball this morning. This guy needs to be executed for terrorizing us. Stinking African hero. He's getting really good with everything. Must be a forum member. Just a joke, folks.

Looking on pg.64 of Sascha's IAB book, this badge here is lacking the semi-scooped detail on the reverse (rifle area), also this badge's casting bubbles and finish are bad. 'African' badges all have exceedingly good finishes compared to original badges of the period.

Phil - can you post another example so we can point out the flaws on this type - Honestly, I would have given it the thumbs up without you posting....
The MK2s seem rare enough, I'm looking at the one in Sascha Weber's book right now and would not know where to start - the original MK2 shown there has a flaw where the bayo meets the wreath in the back, but I don't know if that is true for all original MK2s - they're hard to find, even in the older threads - the MM I got was from one of the few older threads, Lorenzo posted it there, but I haven't found complete pix of good OR fake ones so far. Can anyone else help?

This badge is indeed a good copy.. I could easily been fooled by this one! Kinda scary that "our" African Hero is improving his badges as much as he/she is..

                      Rainer,

The Hero's badges are castings of original clasps, so even tiny details will be picked up with the fakes, so indeed very dangerous. It is becoming hard to tell his fakes with just photographs, but we need good ones like the picture in Post #4. Those pock marks on the badge are what to look for.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
