    What IS it???!!

    Anybody know what this is. It's about the size of pith helmet shields and was brought back by a US GI.

      It is a Prussian eagle, but I don't know what is it for.

        Could it be for a walkingstick or a rucksack? A tourist badge?

          It is not a prussian eagle (they have a crown and the hohenzollern-shield on the breast) it is a Weimar Republik - eagle.
          It is indeed a shield badge for the pith helmet of the german Reichsmarine/Kriegsmarine until 1935, when the new eagle with swastika was introduce.
