No comment on box as i dont collect them but the medal is a dud.

Intersting comments here....can you please explain why this medal and case are considered "dud"....it's always nice to learn.

Hi Chris,
Id use the search engine as this particular medal has been covered in many threads and they contain alot of original vs repro pics.I would check them out as thay also contain a fair bit of technical information.

As for the medal shown, some notable points are,

1)base metal incorrect.(Way,way too much copper)
2)Wreath and wreath binder details incorrect.(Binder is totally wrong and wreath is missing one important detail)
3)lettering details wrong.
4)Stipling close but no cigar.
5)One particular die characteristic near "lip" of medal missing.
6)Bevilled ring not correct shape.
7)tear drop ring not correct shape. (A bit too oval)
