        Hi Ken,

Looks like a perfect F&R GAB, with mint finish. I was a little put off by the mint obverse finish, but the reverse looks to have believable wear and it matches original F&R GABs, so I think it is a good original.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Wow, I agree with the others. I thought it was a fake too, but it also looks spot-on. Nice.

I don't know it yet guys
comparing it with the GCA database, the hingplate is different (not ovalshaped)and also in the reverse there are some details different. I'm a bit sceptical about the finnish.
              I'm not 100% convinced sorry

                  Hi Kray,

The hinge is indeed different on this badge, but F&R has been known to use this type of hinge on their fully solid backed variants (type 1.5.4 in Frank's book). The look of the finish is weird, but if you look at the 1.5.3 variant in Frank's book, the reverse seems to have the same finish, but is a bit worn in the book. I think if it were mint, it would look like the one that started this thread.

Hi guys, for some reason the contours on the reverse look odd. Not especially soft, just odd. The catch plate's a plausible variant. Stewy

                      Hi Ken

Can you give us a few more pics?

                      Reverse with pin up
                      Close up of maker mark
                      Close up of eagle
Close up of the area of the grenade handles (seems to be missing some detail)
                      side view of catch

                      cheers
                      Graeme
