    Hi Chris,

    This looks like a genuine example to me.

    All that white stuff may be the remnants of a cleaning attempt and should probably be carefully removed though.

            Put some vasoline on the eagle for 24 hours and then wipe it off. The white powder should be gone.

                      Don, I'd suggest that Chris try warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush first. Like Mike says, I would bet the white stuff is some sort of Silver polish and not zinc pest per say. This stuff is easily removed and water leaves no shiney residue.

                            Hi Chris,

                            It still looks like a nice original to me.

                            If cleaning it, I'd be VERY careful about using water and a toothbrush on this one - for two main reasons;

                            1) the badge is zinc and you may accelerate and zincpest if any moisture is left on it.
                            2) the silver finish on these badges is a very thin plating - the toothbrush could very easily remove or disturb this plating.

                            On tombak badges, even EKs if dried thoroughly, the soapy water and toothbrush method is fine. More care needs to be taken with this one though.

                            Regards
                            Mike

                              Hi,
                              it's an original piece, without doubts and I would not touch with any vaseline
