    is all that glitters gold? ccc in gold take 2!

    ok finaly robbed my sister flat bed scanner and can take pics of my ccc in gold! now this on had hard life! dr love or jimmy got this of a vet who had nailed it to the wall and a side of the leave had broken off! also the pin catch and back plate were missing! they have all been replaced but what i would like to know is she a gold one? the scans no matter what i did could NOT get the gold colour right! but what do you guys think? any help would be great!

        Hi Paddywack,

        Well, that is an original Large Font AGMuK clasp for certain. In my opinion, I don't think it was a gold clasp for the simple reason that all AGMuK clasps AND ESPECIALLY THE LARGE FONT MAKER used a very high quality plating or brenlack on their CCCs. There would certainly be some remnants of the gold finish (or any finish for that matter). It looks more like it was totally striped of its finish with some type of solvent and then possibly refinished to look like gold, but this has probably all wash away as well because of its post war, low quality nature.

        AGMuK clasps are reknown for their high quality finish and that is why you find so many near-mint examples even 65 years after production.

          the thing is the scanner washed out what was left in the recesses theres more the scanner lets on!il try to pics in natural light with a good camera!should turn out better!thanks though
