    Heer Flak makers

    Gents,

I am working on the Heer Flak section of my book. I consider myself pretty good on Luftwaffe, but I need some help on Heer. Here are the badges I currently have for the book. Please let me know what makers I am missing and if you have variants:

    1) Aurich, Hermann (stone mint)
    2) Foerster & Barth: one hollow one solid back
    3) Funcke & Brueninghaus (mint)
    4) Juncker: tombak, zinc, & zinc SW68
    5) LM (Who is this?)
    6) Pillowcrimp (any idea on who this is?)
    7) Rudolf Souval
    8) Steinhauer & Lueck - 2 variants

    Thanks!
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

The S&L, and the Juncker zinc SW68 are all I own in the Heer flak. Sorry not to be of more help.

I have to agree with Marc,

Why don't we start using the indent on the pin also to establish the connection. This is pretty slim evidence, an indent in a catch, if you ask me.

Well Ian M. is on Vacation right now, but he knows the most about the LM mark. Ian and myself have talked about this mark in length. There looks to be some relationship between the LM and th HA badges. Whether or not HA made these badges is unkown. There is another theroy that the HA was used by someone else and they used there own stamp. I wish I could provide more answers and maybe Ian M. will contribute to the thread when he gets back.

Here is a thread you may want to check out as well.

                          Hi guys,

Robert, taken simply by itself, I thik we can all agree that the mark on the catch is pretty insignificant. But, once coupled with fact that the hardware found on the unmarked GAB & PAB attributed to Hobacher as well as the WH marked IAB are EXACTLY the same as the "WH Wien" Heer flak, that to me is very strong evidence. If you follow that GCA thread, Infansammler posts the fake WH badge next to the one most of us agree is an original, the differences are pretty apparent.

Sure, it would be great to find additional support, but what is found already is pretty convincing IMO.

In addition, and this will be revealed in my CCC book, I have attributed one of the unmarked CCCs to Hobacher as well. This CCC features similar hardware found on the Hobacher IABs, PABs & GABs and on top of that, it shares the same obvesre design as the Souval CCCs. Both located in Wien, it makes sense that they both share the same design.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                            Tom,

Thanks for the info. I think it would help to see all that in photos. As it is there are snippets of info and then you obviously have some more in your noggin, but until it is all put down in plain English it is hard for guys like me to grasp the totality.

Finding new patterns to a maker, or simply identifying a maker is always exciting and very rewarding to say the least, Tom. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ruling out the possibility that there may be another flak badge to include to the already known list we have. I'll follow your lead if you can lay the groundwork to this new flak addition. I'll even help if you can persuade me. It's in my nature to search out and study something that has possibilites. Can you give us more, more than a like-and-kind catch? We know of the unknown maker of the Luftwaffe flak badge, the 'ball-hinge' flak. It's been presumed by most that the badge was made by 'AS' because of the hinge and catch, but no one has really concluded this.
