    Is this the same badge?

This Silver CCC is currently for sale on E-stand with a COA.

But is this indeed the same badge. I´m not sure what do you think?

There are some details that is very different from the two pictures that I have tried to make out with green circles.

Is it because of different quality og the photo´s or ??

Thanks Karsten I must admit I haven't done a close comparison between the clasp & photo as I presumed they matched.

I will have a close look at both & report back.

                  Hi guys,

It is very hard to tell, but I think they are both the same clasp, just taken at different angles. I think someone used a magic marker to touch up the backplate and then realized that it didn't match the COA, so they tried to scrape some of it back off (check out the circled areas, looks like black marker).

All F&BL clasps came out of the same die, with the maker mark upside down above the catch. The seller says there is no mark above the catch, but it may be covered up with solder and obscurred. This matches the COA and I am sure Peter and Detlev know how to look for the tiny F&BL maker mark. What are the chances that 2 different F&BL clasps were found with their maker mark totally obscurred from sight??

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I am inclined to agree with Tom. If our hunches are correct ....... tampering with the badge indirectly affects its authenticity. I see many small details that confirm the badge IS one in the same.

                    Regards,
                    Mark

AS AN EDITTED PS - I noticed the different shapes around the catch too. But I see a small vertical flaw in the reverse badge, in the upper left corner above the backplate. Die Flaw or the same badge?

Around the catch on the sellers photo there is a discoloration that appears to be round in shape, but in the COA picture the discoloration is of a different shape. Lighting?

I don't think these badges are the same. Look at the angle of the leaf edge in the photos.

There does appear to be multiple differences in the oak leaves between the clasp for sale and the one in the COA pics. I'm seeing even more than the ones previously pointed out, although they are very subtle. I also noticed the difference in the dark area patterns around the hinge and catch as was mentioned. Clearly the back plate has been touched up on the clasp for sale. Perhaps the seller can give us more insight as to what is really going on here??

If the seller did not include the COA this clasp may have snuck through unnoticed...except for the touched up back plate perhaps.

I have asked Peter (seller) for a picture of the pin in the catch, and he will post it tomorrow.

I´m confident that Peter is a 100% honest guy, and I´m sure nobody will think differently. It´s just that, sometimes we don´t look for these things, because we expect other collectors to be just as honest.
