That is one sweet badge. Look at the tombak peeking thru the finish.

            Hello Rainer,

congratulations on that very nice GAB.
Do you think it´s made of tombak(Buntmetall) or just coated zinc?
Can you provide the exact weight of the badge?

Thanks for all comments so far, I know I've been swamping the forum with threads lately, but I only did it for the good of this community
The GAB weights twelve grams, and it seems like the badge has been given a silver treatment (see blade of the bayonet and swastika), prior to the white coating. The Tombak shows at the high points...
The difference between the white and the silver is really hard to capture by camera, only when holding it at a certain angle to the light, but unless I'm mistaken, these badges have been given the mirror treatment, then the white wash on top.

Thank you for your info, Rainer.
This would be the first GWL GAB made of tombak I have seen so far.

Regarding the finish, these GABs received the matt, silver/white finish first,
then the highlights were burnished by hand, using a special jeweller´s tool.

Here are my GWL GABs (all made of zinc)

Whatever its made of its beautiful.

Just for info, the white wash silver comes first and is then burnished with a blood stone to a mirror finish

One of the nicest I´ve seen.

Danny and skip, and all others - good input, thanks a lot - polished with a bloodstone... I'll google that up!
