Thanks Stewy - I'm curious about the outcome here - my Monster has been discussed here and on GCA, given the thumbs up. I don't have access to the fakes database there, so I can't compare right now, but even a year ago, when I received the PAB and posted it, people were aware of the Hero Copy (which mine was clearely stated not to be).
      curious.... really curious....

Rainer the "Hero" fakes on GCA have different catch to yours, just a circular disc rather than a rounded corner rectangular one like yours. Stewy

Your badge looks OK to me too...maybe it's the Juncker type hinge that is making some of the other collectors nervous. The Hero fakes do have the same type of hinge but like Stwey said the catches are different.

Dan,my monster weighs 41.09g & Rainers weighs 43g. Could the difference be all attributed to the Junker set up? Or could some of that difference be down to the individual die? Regards Stewy

              Hello Den,
to call a thing by its right name, I am "some" but not really nervous.

Like I said before, that finish is typical for hero fakes, and I´ve never seen an original silver S&L PAB with that type of finish. And IMO all original monster S&L PAB´s have the small hinge. BTW, the wide hinge baseplate on original S&L allways fits perfect in the frame, there is no space between plate and frame, the heros hinge is smaller.

On the picture below you can see a comparison between Rainer´s PAB and a hero fake (i will call it type 1)
              1. the finish looks very equal
              2. the track area is differnet to original S&L PAB´s (to even)
              3. there is a damage on the left wing that you find on both pieces, but never on originals

But the they allways made there homework, so the next fake variation hasn´t these features (no damage, correct track area)

                regards form a calmly

More details that are identical on both badges. There is no question about it being a Hero fake IMO.

I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                    Hello Hans,
the detail under the gun is no sign for a fake, because all Monster S&L have it (and other S&L variations too)

Sorry Harry if I offended you in any way...apparently nervous was a bad choice of words here I really can't argue with your detective work and great photo's so I'm going to have to change my opinion ( sorry Rainer) and agree that this is in fact a Hero fake .

                          Hi Harry

Great comparison shots and well thought out.

Can you post pics of the obverse of the original PAB that you showed in this thread?

                          best regards
                          Graeme

                            Hello Dan,
there is no reason to apologize, a bit kidding with matching smilies it´s always funny for me. So Sorry too, if I answered a bit harsh

I've got to say Harry that is some hardcore detective work you've done there. Stewy

                                Guys -
thanks a lot for the replies and study (Harry in particular) - I was happy with the PAB ever since I got it a year ago, and trusted in its authenticity - ouch, that stings!
That's it for me, no more TR collecting, I've had it....
What's the point in throwing cash out the window ****ing pieces of **** that turn out to be fake in the end anyway. I can never be comfortable again with ANY badge... This sucks badly...
