Tom - How do you know its replaced? (not disagreeing just curious) and do you think period replacement or post war?

Hi Jono,

Sorry, just saw your reply. In my opinion, Rudolf Souval's backplates were never trimmed like this on the edges (no maker trimmed their backplates like that for that matter). Additionally, the tool used by Souval typically bent the backplate, or at least left some marks on it, which you do not see here. Finally, you can see where someone tamped down the raised lips on either side in an attempt to keep this new backplate in place.

Thanks for getting back to me tom. I cancelled the order as i decided i am only interested in period items (all the bits and peices too) Was very happy with the polite response from Klause who was very understanding and easy to deal with
