CCC in Gold -Tell me I'm wrong!

    Hi,
I've just picked this Nahkampfspange in Gold up from an arms fair, beautiful condition. Now I've got it home and compared it to my others, it's smaller and weighs less than my others. It weighs 32.6grms and measures 95mm x 25mm. It looks absolutely pristine with the frosting still partially intact. I think that this may be a case of too good to be true -Please tell me I'm wrong

Backplate is magnetic, pin is not.

            Hi Neil,

You are correct, it is a gold clasp, but unfortunately it is a reproduction. These are usually found marked with FLL and sometimes F&BL, but nevertheless a modern reproductions. This one is hard to detect because it is not a casting of an original, but a totally unique obverse design and made from a modern alloy. Hope you can return it.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Tom,
thanks, I'd already come to the conclusion that it's a repro and phoned the dealer to say that I wanted my money back. He's not happy and is adamant that it's a good clasp, but I think I'll get my money back. It's a shame, but I thought it was too good to be true.
Watch this thread, I'll let you know what the results are...............

I'm always amazed when dealers are so adamant that a badge is good, yet act insulted or angry when you try to return it. If they feel so good about it, they shouldn't have any problem selling it to someone else. When a dealer gets angry about a return, to me it is a sign they know something is not right and are afraid they will get stuck with the item.
