Thanks to all of you guys. Actually as I said , any opinion was welcome.
I had already traded for this badge before I posted it, and i was convinced basically on the general look of the relic and for a detail analys based on the cracks I saw here. With regards to back up story, resembling a less noble thing, I learnt that basically any piece we collect has one, so i wouldn't rely much on it. The guy anyway did not want disclose the place where he dug it.
A fact is anyway that the guy who allegedly found it, offered me also a bunch of other stuff which was all fine (it was easily recognised since i dug same badges before and I know how they look like). This is a good sign to me.
Anyway, the reason why I posted here was also that I was basing my judgement also on the assumption, which may be wrong though, that someone would do such a relic only from a loud and cheap fake, with wrong material and poor details, because if wouldn't pay off to crash like that a high detailed repro only to sell it for a value close to nothing.Rgds

PS - Greg, thanks for your intervention, may I ask you some further comments to understand your thumbs up ? thanks

It will be impossible to say with a 100% certainty whether this piece is good or bad. With a piece like this there is almost no value, so if you are happy with it and believe the story that is probably all that matters. best wishes,

I can only agree with Jeff in this case.

wow I hate it when you write things and then it never shows up and you have to re-write it, if you can remember all of it??

but ya i like this one in question and love the skull details it has too, the cracking in the medal can't be faked like this one, even if you froze it then unfroze it fast, this will cause cracking that i have seen one faker due and it really worked! but this one has a known catch and skull details with really some great looking bronzeing coating still on it! you know it really is a hard APB to get any real 100% good/bad and like posted above it will ahve to be liked by the owner, But i think it is a great APB i would love to own it. I have a VERY large photo collection of APB's and can find and show more if you'd like, but here is a large printed APB page with many known APB's. also the photo you have showed with the catches is a good one, but there are so many differant APB's that are fat at the lower 7 o'clock and you ahve to find the ones that look just like this one is made, also look for the non-cut outs too. allot to look for and must be researched more if you like it.

Dear Greg, thanks a lot for your last post. I have to agree with the moderators regarding what they wrote, but on the other side I was hoping that someone could try to follow my same line of investigation, if we could call it like that, starting from the cracks. Yep, i do agree with you, I think these cracks and ageing would not be easily reproduced.
I would like to see more photos if you want to share them. You can post them here, if other members want to see, or send me a pm.
            Thanks Matt
