Soldiers iab badge on his g-k43 rifle. Please opinions!!

    Hello people,

I`m not really into the German badges..I like to show someting my friend owned 20 years ago..on a day he sold it..and found it back again after 15 years. In the time it still had the original buttplate..unfortunately my friend sold that one..and I got this piece of art for a symbolic low price. (like 2 beers). Nowdays this piece of art is a book-end :-)

I`m often very sceptic about this kind of art..it`s so easy to fake...even in the early days they had repro`s...

But when I made a close inspection..I know 100% sure the stock is original German WW2 and unsanded. The woodcut looks very old..and a small woodworm even made a small hole.

I asked a good friend and respected crosses collector from Zandvoort his opinion about the badge..he tought it is German WW2 original... but he adviced to ask it on the forum.

    Is the badge original???

A 2nd very important observation: such a stock hase at least 2 WaA markings, the badge is placed on the who 1st eagle..and like 3/4 on the second eagle. You can still see some parts of the marks wing and circle.

I`m very sure some faker would have hit the badge on the other unmarked side...not on those 2 nice marks..because people allways like those eagles. (or it was a stupid faker when the badge is an old repro :-) LOL)

So I hope somebody could say if that badge is German.. if so..think this is what happend:

The German soldier made after the war from his G43 and badge an nice piece of art to remember the war. Fe to use as book-end. I`m sure soldiers are mostly unarmed after the war..so having a shooter in home was a most likely forbidden.

Is this someting you seen before...or does somebody have more info?

    Any help is greatly appriciated!!

    Best regards Tommy

badge looks like a cast copy to me, little detail on eagles head and soft detail, rough edges around wreath etc but i would wait for someone with more experience to comment, that's just my opinion. Laminated stock looks original

                      Ok people...

I pressed the iab out of the wood with an flat piece of metal..it came out pritty easy..without damaging the wood or badge..so I have pics of the backside. Anyway It does have a maker sign,,,

Maybe somebody can see if it`s original now!

I took it as copy..so even better if it`s German.

                      Best regards Tommy

It seems that I made some scratches while take it off..but I clearly see a "4" wich isn`t a scratch from me

                              (my scrataches are shining)

Are fake batches marked like this one..?

                              Best regards Tommy
