    Hi Giel,

    Yes I think that would be a great idea. As I stated previously I am in the badge about 15 bucks so it really doesn't matter to me if it's bad. I do want to find out though if it is good or bad because there is simply too much bad info/inuendo/uninformed opinion/greed on the part of unscrupulous dealers etc. on these. When I first got it I was pretty sure it was just a really, really good fake, then I got Detlevs catalogue and he shows one very similar to mine, so then I start wondering as he has a very good rep in the industry. So yes, by all means, lets analyse the crap out of these badges

    e=Giel Van Wassenhove;2038076]Hi Gary,

    You indeed have that one badge that you don't want to have.

    I am sure as well these WH Wien badges are no good, though you see them sell at different dealer sites once in a while. I'm we have never saw an acceptable Hobacher army flak badge in the past.

    I think it would be very interesting to have a serious discussion about these badges and about Hobacher, but I wouldn't really know where to start.

    I know of someone who says he owns a good Hobacher army flak badge. At the time I saw it I didn't really take a good look at it, but I will contact him later this evening and ask him to post it here.[/quote]

      Hi Gary,

      I am of the opinion that if Detlev shows one in his book then there would be a pretty fair chance it would be the real thing. I know Detlev is out to make a business and could make a mistake every now and then but I dont believe he would do it on purpose to deceive as his reputation is on the line so to speak.
      The way I look at it is that he knows way more than I do and so I put my trust in him.
      I am not a regular on this forum because I have seen the same guys come and go over the years with their "expertise" so to speak only the names keep changing. Before I get some really bad comments here I know most are just trying to be helpfull but some of the info I see posted here is more harmful to the hobby than helpful. Trying to learn is all well and good but a lot of stuff posted seems to be made up as we go along. The bare facts are this...none of us were there so how the hell do we know for sure that this company did make a run of these badges etc etc.
      I know I am going to cop it over this but I just think that a guy like Detlev or even some of the other big sellers in Germany will make mistakes occasionally but I believe they know more about this subject than we do. They have to otherwise they would be unable to sell anything to the collecting community who have become, rightly or wrongly, so paranoid that they question every single item posted. Just my thoughts on the matter.

      Mark. If you are happy with that badge thats all that counts....if you dont want it I would probably buy it from you.

        Hi Phil,

        Sorry but I really don't agree with your statement about the big dealers know more than us about army badges. Some do still refer UU to Wernstein, and some are still selling the most documented fakes.

        The WH Wien badge in Detlev's is not good. I've searched through some old threads on an other forum and there is a known original. It's easy to see when you look at the catch. I will use the comparison Robert made some time ago.

        Other badges don't show this feature.
